Jonathan Elgart

This singer, songwriter, piano player began his musical journey in the theater and playing piano and singing for his parents’ house parties. He turned professional as a sophomore in college, playing piano bar in an upscale seafood restaurant lounge on the famed Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas. Jonathan continued to sing and play every chance he got, highlighted by an opportunity to represent the Army in the 1986 All-Army Soldier Show, which toured the country at 17 installations across the U.S. He received the Department of the Army’s 5-star award as songwriter of the year for his composition. “We, The People,” a song written to commemorate the bicentennial of the signing of The Constitution.

From there, Jonathan has performed as a soloist, in a national touring dance duo, as well as several other bands over the course of his 40-year music career. He began performing as a tribute artist in 2014, beginning with a tribute to Barry Manilow, affectionately called “Barely Manilow.” He followed that up, one year later, with his tribute to Neil Diamond called “Nearly Diamond,” of course. He has since added to his tribute repertoire with tributes to his longtime idol, Billy Joel, called “Streetlife Serenader,” and Sir Elton John called simply "Elton Jonathan." Paying tribute to these living legends is a privilege and honor for Jonathan, as he catalogues their career through anecdotes, telling of their accomplishments and awards, and, of course, performing all of their biggest hits, whether by himself or with his 6-piece band. He has had the amazing opportunity to travel the country with these shows, performing to sold out audiences nationwide.

He began writing music in high school and has finally been able to see his “labor of love” come to fruition with the release of his all-original debut CD “A Member of the Family,” a spiritual/inspirational journey of music borne out of his experiences and life-lessons. Jonathan hopes to be able to travel with this new project, spreading a message of love and hope through word and music solo or with his band called KROSSING JORDAN. He has also released a tribute to the Chairman of the Board, Frank Sinatra, entitled, “Before My Time.” A proud father of two and veteran of the Army, Jonathan considers his life and vocation to be a gift of grace…nothing deserved or earned…just something to be shared! And he looks forward to doing just that with you!
